Abstract: African
Traditional Religion is the religion that was handed down from generation to
generation by our forbears and is being practiced today in a variety of
shades and intensities. It influents all areas of life, has been largely
responsible for shaping the character and culture of African peoples
throughout the centuries. Through its positive roles have contributed
immensely to nation building. These can be seen through values, morals,
ethical codes and sanction, traditional health care delivery etc. Findings
obtained from this paper suggest ways African Traditional Religion has
contributed to nation building, socio-historical, analytical and descriptive
methodologies were employed. This paper conclude that African Traditional
Religion which is embedded in the culture and traditions of the people is a
bedrock for nation building and sustainable development in Nigeria. |
