Early
childhood music education is increasingly shaped by post-digital conditions in
which musical learning develops through the interaction of children, educators,
bodies, materials, sounds, technologies, and social relationships. From a Music
Education 4.0 perspective, digital transformation is approached as a
pedagogical process that connects technological mediation with embodied
exploration, creativity, participation, and musical meaning-making. Drawing on
post-digital music education, constructionist and making-centered learning,
multimodal musical literacy, STREAM-oriented approaches, and participatory
pedagogies, the discussion examines how emerging, immersive, and AI-mediated
technologies can support developmentally appropriate and meaningful musical
experiences in the early years. Particular attention is given to music
production, tactile interaction, creative coding, immersive media, and
artificial intelligence as resources for listening, experimentation,
representation, problem-solving, and collaborative creation. Their pedagogical
value is considered in relation to accessibility, educator mediation, ethical
awareness, and the opportunities they create for children’s agency and
multimodal participation. The discussion also proposes design principles for
flexible post-digital music learning environments and illustrates their
application through early childhood music scenarios. Music Education 4.0 is
positioned as a human-centered perspective for connecting technological change
with creativity, participation, inclusion, and shared musical experience.
