Nigeria’s youth population is increasingly associated with various forms of crime, posing a significant challenge to the country’s development and security. This study explores the role of education in combating and reducing crime rates among youths in Nigeria. The relationship between education and crime is examined, and the benefits of educating youths for crime reduction are discussed. The study reveals that education can play a critical role in preventing crime by providing young people with skills, knowledge, and opportunities for personal and economic development. By investing in education, Nigeria can empower its youth population to contribute positively to society, reduce crime rates, and promote sustainable development. The study recommends prioritizing education as a crime prevention strategy, increasing funding for education, and providing quality education that equips young people with skills and knowledge. A call to action is made to stakeholders, including policymakers, educators, and youths themselves, to work together to develop effective strategies for crime prevention and promote education as a critical component of sustainable development.
